Conway police returned a 3-year-old to her great-grandmother after the child was found walking the street alone, according to a police report.

Officers were called about 11 p.m. Thursday to the area of Robin Road and Ninth Avenue for a child walking around without a parent, police said. A man found the child in his front yard and his neighbor called police.

The woman said she had never seen the little girl before and didn’t know where she belonged, according to the report. The girl seemed confused to police and didn’t know where she lived.

Detectives went to the scene and began investigating.

A man that lived in the area told detectives there was a house down the street that had its front door open, according to the report. Police went there and learned the child’s great-grandmother was inside.

The great-grandmother told officers that the child’s grandmother was watching the child while the girl’s mother worked, according to the report. The great-grandmother said she went to sleep and the grandmother was there, but the grandmother may have left to go to a local club.

The child was returned to the great-grandmother and officers planned to contact the grandmother, according to the report. No other details were listed.
