Horry County firefighters battled a house fire early Thursday in the Causey community, which is north of Nichols near the North Carolina state line, and police are searching for a man in connection with a domestic incident at the home before the fire, according to authorities.

Emergency crews were called about 7:40 a.m. Thursday to the home on Sand Plant Road for the blaze.

Firefighters found a single family home that was fully involved with fire, said Justin Gibbins, an assistant chief with Horry County Fire Rescue.

At 7:50 a.m. Thursday, Gibbins said in a tweet that crews have “drop tank ops on fully involved single family wood frame house. Extra engine and medic requested on working fire dispatch.”

Horry County’s police dog tracking team was in the Causey Road area searching for a man officers said was involved in a domestic violence incident at the home earlier. He had not been located or identified as of late Thursday.

Details about the domestic incident and the man were not immediately available.
