A man from Covington, Ga., was arrested by Myrtle Beach police Sunday after officers learned he fought with his brother, who was stabbed, according to a police report.
Lawrence Brown, 20, was charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, assault of a high and aggravated nature and second-degree assault and battery, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Brown is being held on $32,500 bond.
Myrtle Beach officers were called at 12:40 a.m. Sunday to 4709 N. Kings Highway at the La Quinta Inn for a stabbing, police said.
Officers learned there was blood in the elevator and they followed it to a third floor room, according to the report. Brown told police that he got into a fight with his 18-year-old brother over his girlfriend.
Brown said his brother grabbed a knife and then Brown grabbed the knife and they struggled with it while a 20-year-old man tried to stop the men from fighting, according to the report. During the incident the teen was stabbed.
The younger man was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
