Myrtle Beach police have charged a Charlotte, N.C., man with child molestation in connection with an event Saturday at Broadway at the Beach.
Gary Leon White II, 29, allegedly stuck his hands up the dress of a girl at Rodeo Bar and Grill and fondled her, according to a police report.
Two officers with the Myrtle Beach police department observed Broadway at the Beach security guards chasing White and assisted.
When confronted, White said that someone at the club had thrown drinks on them and that he had only been there a few minutes to pick up a friend, and denied touching anyone.
When the officer made contact with the victim, the report stated that she was hysterical and that the offender had groped her private parts after approaching her from behind.
Her story was corroborated by five witnesses at the club, who told the officer that both parties threw drinks at each other at that point. Other witnesses told officer that White had attempted to grope them in a similar fashion, according to the report.
When White was informed he was being placed under arrest, he bolted and the officers gave chase. White slipped and fell and an officer tried to subdue him and issued several “stop resisting” warnings, according to the report
When the struggle continued, another officer deployed his Taser, which struck White in the lower back and buttocks.
White was also charged with resisting arrest and assault and battery 2nd degree. Police also requested and received video of the foot pursuit from Broadway at the Beach security.
