When a man was unable to open the register during the robbery of a Myrtle Beach beauty supply store, he left with hair extensions instead, police said.

According to a Myrtle Beach police report, officers responded to the Sally Beauty Supply in the 1300 block of North Kings Highway at about 12:55 p.m. Saturday for a reported armed robbery.

On Wednesday, police released surveillance photos seeking information about the suspect.

Police said they spoke with a store employee who said a man came into the store and asked for hair extensions from the secured display case. The employee told police she rang them up on the cash register and he pulled up his shirt to show the woman the handle of a black automatic pistol, according to the report.

When he demanded she open the register, she said she was too scared and could not do it. The man walked behind the counter and tried to open the register himself, but was unable to, police said. The employee told police the man then took the hair extensions and left the store.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident can call 918-1382.
