A woman was jailed early Thursday after emergency crews were called to Socastee Auto Sales for a crash that involved four cars on the sales lot, authorities said.
Alicia Brown was jailed on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after emergency crews were called at 3:30 a.m. Thursday to the business on Socastee Boulevard for a vehicle crash, said Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly with the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Brown was driving a 2002 Lincoln that had been going east on S.C. 707 before it went off the left side of the road into the auto sales lot and hit four cars there, Wimberly said. Damage estimates were between $5,000 and $6,000 for each of the four vehicles hit in the lot.
The Lincoln caught fire and Brown and the car’s owner, who was a passenger, Antonio Campbell, were found by Horry County police a distance away from the incident, Wimberly said. The couple had walked away from the crash and lot.
Brown was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital to be examined for minor injuries before she was taken to jail, Wimberly said. Brown’s age and hometown were not immediately available Thursday morning.
