Myrtle Beach woman killed in Charleston area crash

A Myrtle Beach woman died in a vehicle crash in Mount Pleasant on Monday, authorities said.
At 2:07 p.m. Monday, officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department were called to a single vehicle crash on U.S. 17 at Hamlin Road, according to a news release from the department. The vehicle was driven by Wendy Castro-Valle, who was going north when she failed to stop for a red light.
The vehicle fishtailed and Castro-Valle swerved to the right, ran off the road and struck a sweetgrass basket stand, according to the release. Castro-Valle died from injuries she suffered in the crash.
Three passengers in the vehicle were taken to the Medical University of South Carolina with minor injuries, according to the release. No one was at the basket stand at the time of the crash.
