Myrtle Beach police were called early Wednesday to a possible house fire, but instead found a man who said he tried to make methamphetamines in a soda bottle, according to a police report.
The 31-year-old Myrtle Beach man, who has not been charged with any crime, was seen by officers leaving the apartment at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at 304 First Ave. N., police said.
The officer asked the man what happened and the man said “he made a mistake and decided to make some meth,” according to the report. The man said he was in the house while everyone was sleeping and put the chemicals into an empty soda bottle, but they did not react correctly.
The man said he added water and the bottle caught fire, so he threw it out the window, according to the report. The man showed the officer the bottle.
No other details were listed in the report.
