Myrtle Beach police said Monday morning they found the body of a boy last seen swimming on Saturday evening in the ocean.
Capt. David Knipes said about 8 a.m. Monday that the body of the 11-year-old drowning victim was found in the area of 11th Avenue South and the beach.
O’Marion Williams of Scotland Neck, N.C., was found by Myrtle Beach police officers about 2 a.m. Monday, Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said. An autopsy is set for Monday evening, but officials suspect Williams drowned.
The boy was last seen boogie-boarding with friends around 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Cpl. Bishop Gibson.
Gibson said the boy was pulled out about 150 feet by a rip current.
“We’ve been looking for him every since then,” Gibson said on Sunday.
Williams was in the ocean late after lifeguards had ended their shifts for the day, Fowler said.
Police called the U.S. Coast Guard to assist with the search.
