Man killed when his motorized scooter is struck on U.S. Highway 17

The driver of a motorized scooter is dead after being struck by an SUV Saturday on U.S. Highway 17, police said.
William David Todd, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene, Horry County coroner Robert Edge said. Todd had family in the North Myrtle Beach area, Edge said.
S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said the scooter and a 2007 Dodge sport utility vehicle were traveling north on U.S. Highway 17 near Myrtle Beach Mall at about 10:25 p.m. Saturday. The driver of the SUV struck the scooter. She was not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
