Myrtle Beach police planned to get an arrest warrant for a 39-year-old man on charges in connection with a 31-year-old woman being choked and punched in the face until she went unconscious, according to a police report.

The victim told officers that between 1 and 2 a.m. Thursday she and the man were intoxicated when they began to argue in the 1100 block of Third Avenue South, police said.

The victim said the man choked her and then started punching her until she was unconscious, according to the report. The victim said the man found her at 708 N. Kings Highway and threatened to kill her.

A witness told police he heard a man and woman screaming and the man threatening the woman, so he notified the property manager, according to the report. The manger asked the man to leave and he did.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries to her knee, food, jaw and neck, according to the report. Officers planned to request a warrant for the man’s arrest.

The Sun News does not identify suspects until arrest warrants are issued.
