A West Virginia man was charged with assault after Myrtle Beach police learned a manager at a Broadway at the Beach club had a beer poured on him in the bathroom and was assaulted, authorities said.
Justin Tyler Robbins, 21, of Charleston, W.Va., was charged with second-degree assault and battery after officers were called at 1 a.m. Tuesday to 1304 Celebrity Circle for an assault, police said.
A 34-year-old man told police he was inside a bathroom stall when someone poured beer on him, so he walked out and confronted two men, including Robbins, in the bathroom, according to the report. A 21-year-old man was holding the beer and the manager said he told him to leave and tapped him on the shoulder.
Robbins said “his buddy was being stupid and poured a drink on a guy in a bathroom stall,” but the victim started to push his friend, so he put the victim in a chokehold, according to the report. The victim said he was telling the other man to leave when someone came up behind him and put him in a chokehold.
The victim was punched several times and suffered severe swelling to his face and had cuts on his arms, according to the report. The victim had a friend take him to the hospital for treatment.
