Myrtle Beach police charged a 43-year-old man in the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl, according to authorities.
Samuel Carnell Cooper, 43, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11, exposure of private parts and disseminating obscene material to a minor, according to Myrtle Beach Jail records.
Cooper is being held pending a bond hearing.
Authorities were contacted in May after a woman learned from her daughter that the girl had been sexual assaulted since she was 8, police said. The woman said her daughter recently began acting differently and after questioning the girl said Cooper had assaulted her more than 30 times.
