Myrtle Beach man reports being threatened with a piece of wood during robbery attempt

A 40-year-old Myrtle Beach man told police he was hit in the leg with a piece of wood by a man who tried to rob him, according to a police report.
The victim told officers that about 11 a.m. Sunday he was walking in the 700 block of Alder Street when a man carrying a piece of wood that was three feet long and square in shape approached him, police said.
The victim said the man demanded he empty his pockets and made threatening motions with the piece of wood, according to the report. The victim said he had no money and when he turned to run away, the man hit him in the calf with the piece of wood.
