Conway police charge Myrtle Beach man with attempted murder in parking lot assault

Conway police charged a man after a 50-year-old woman reported that she was forced from a moving vehicle and then hit by it in a Wal-Mart parking lot, according to an incident report.

Police charged Jessie Russell Martin, 56, of Myrtle Beach with attempted murder in the incident, Lt. Selena Small said. Martin was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 6:07 p.m. May 28 and was being held their Wednesday on $30,000 bail, according to jail records.

Officers were called about 8 a.m. May 28 to the parking lot of the department store at 2709 Church St., where they found the victim lying in the parking lot, police said.

A witness told police he saw a vehicle driving in the parking lot with the passenger door open, according to the report. The witness said he saw a woman being pushed from the vehicle by the driver and when the woman hit the ground, the vehicle ran over her.

The witness said the driver of the vehicle then stopped, took some bags from the rear and then left, according to the report. The victim said she was in the truck with the driver when she was pushed from the vehicle.

The victim said she was pulled by the vehicle before she hit the ground and then the vehicle ran over her, according to the report. The victim had visible injuries and was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
