Horry County man shot in the head inside his Nichols home

A 74-year-old man was shot in the head while he was inside his Nichols area home Sunday evening, according to an Horry County police report.
Officers were called about 8:30 p.m. Sunday to Jarrott Drive for the shooting, police said.
The victim’s wife told police they were inside the house when the man was shot, according to the report. Officers found the man bleeding from the right side of his head, but he was talking to them and was alert.
Officers also found the sliding glass door was shattered and a hole in a screen on the porch, according to the report. Officers searched the area, but did not find any suspicious people or vehicles.
The man was flown to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center by helicopter for treatment, according to the report. Detectives are investigating the incident and no other details were listed in the report.
