Little River man jailed on sexual assault charges involving 9-year-old girl

A Little River man was jailed Monday on charges related to the sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl in Horry County, according to authorities.

Edward Allen Rutter, 27, of Little River was booked at 4:10 p.m. Monday into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11 and unlawful dissemination, procuring or promoting obscenity, according to jail records. Rutter is being held pending a bond hearing.

In the Horry County police report filed April 4, officers learned the girl had told an adult that she had been sexually assaulted by Rutter between July 28, 2013 to March 28. A report also was filed in Sumter County about the incidents. No other details were listed in the report.
