Myrtle Beach man said he fought back against robbers armed with pieces of wood

A 31-year-old man told Myrtle Beach police he was attacked by three men, including two armed with pieces of wood, but the victim was able to fight back and send the suspects running away, according to a police report.
The victim said he was walking along Robert Grissom Parkway toward Mr. Joe White Avenue about 8 a.m. Sunday when one of the men approached him and demanded his money, police said.
The victim said he replied no and two men, who were armed with pieces of wood, began to hit him in the chest and back, according to the report. The victim said he hit one robber in the throat, another in the knee and the third man in the chest before they ran away.
The victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center to be checked for injuries and got upset when the nurses would not provide him with pain medication, according to the report. The victim was released from the hospital with a prescription for pain and then refused to talk with detectives about the incident.
