An Horry County school teacher remained jailed Thursday afternoon after he was charged with criminal domestic violence in Myrtle Beach, according to authorities.
Stacey Bryant Bazen, 40, of Myrtle Beach was charged after officers were called at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 4500 block of North Kings Highway for an incident that occurred at 7300 N. Kings Highway, police said.
According to the Horry County Schools website, Bazen is an agriculture teacher at Carolina Forest High School.
Horry County school officials will not allow Bazen to return to school property until further notice, said Teal Britton, Horry County Schools spokeswoman. School officials are investigating the incident and Bazen is expected to be put on administrative leave this week.
Officers learned a 41-year-old woman argued with Bazen about child custody because the couple had separated, according to the report. The victim told officers she was leaving to pick up a church vest when Bazen got into the back of her van, pulled her hair and ear ring out.
The victim said Bazen then got out of the van and tried to follow her through the parking lot, according to the report. Bazen told police he tried to ride with the victim, but she told him no.
Bazen said he tried to give the victim a hug and his finger caught her ear ring, but he denied pulling her hair, according to the report. The victim had a torn right ear lobe.
Bazen remained jailed in Myrtle Beach at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, according to jail records.
