A Virginia man was indicted by an Horry County grand jury on an attempted carjacking charge that stemmed from an incident in October in Myrtle Beach, according to court records.
Johnathan David Stallard, 22, of Martinsville, Va., was indicted in grand jury indictments released Friday.
Stallard was released Feb. 7 on $25,000 bail, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
The charge stemmed from a woman parking her green convertible 1990 Mercedes 500 SI on 17th Ave. S. about 3 p.m. Oct. 21, police said. The woman said she was trying to find a garage opener in her purse when Stallard reportedly told her to get out of the car multiple times while trying to get into the vehicle, the report said.
The 42-year-old victim looked around to see if someone could help. When she looked back, Stallard had run across the street where she heard someone laugh and say, “Sorry about that,” the report said.
She saw Stallard with two other men head west on 17th Avenue South and called police. Stallard was arrested just after midnight.
