Police charge Conway man with sexual assault of woman he threatened with ice pick

A Conway man is being held on $40,445 bond after being charged with burglary and sexual assault of a woman where he used an ice pick as a weapon, according to authorities.

James Junior Felder, 43, of Conway was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 1:22 p.m. Sunday on charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to jail records.

The charges stemmed from Conway police responding at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 15 to a location on Ninth Avenue where police were called by a man, who reported the incident.

The man told police he noticed a back door of a home appeared to be ajar and he that it appeared to have been kicked in, according to the report. The man said he went into the home and saw Felder on top of the victim, raping her.

The man said he grabbed a big stick and chased Felder out of the house, according to the report. The victim, whose age was not listed in the report, told police that the suspect had an ice pick and identified the suspect to police.

Horry County EMS took the victim to Conway Medical Center for treatment and officers searched the area.
