Police charged a man Sunday afternoon for his involvement in a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead early Saturday morning in Myrtle Beach, police said.

Police charged Evgeny Pavlovich Bolotov, 28, of Myrtle Beach on Sunday with reckless homicide and hit and run. He was being held without bond as of 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Sergey Kharlamov, 26, of Myrtle Beach – a passenger in the vehicle driven by Bolotov – was killed in the crash, according to Horry County coroner Robert Edge. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Edge, Bolotov was driving on U.S. Highway 501 when he ran a red light at the intersection of Robert Grissom Parkway at about 1 a.m. Saturday. Kharlamov was a passenger in that vehicle. A second vehicle hit Bolotov’s vehicle on the passenger side.

Hardy said Bolotov got out of the car and fled the scene. He was later located and taken into custody on Saturday night.
