Myrtle Beach police responded to Grand Strand Medical Center Sunday night after a man was reportedly shot during a candlelight vigil for his friend.
When police arrived at the hospital around 10:30 p.m., a man who transported the victim there told police he noticed the victim limping when he drove past him, according to an incident report.
The man then pulled over and asked the victim if he needed help. After the victim said he had been shot in the leg, the man took him to the hospital, the report says.
When a detective spoke with the victim, he claimed he was near the 1300 block of Dennison Ave. for a candlelight vigil for his friend, according to the report. During the ceremony, shots reportedly rang out and the victim was shot in his leg.
The victim told police he does not know who the shooter was or where the shots were fired from.
Police are still investigating the incident.
