A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 36-year-old man after the two argued at a Little River bar over a girlfriend, police said.
Christopher Wayne Turner, of North Myrtle Beach, was charged with attempted murder, according to Krystal Dotson, Horry County police spokeswoman.
Officers were called about 1:30 a.m. to a location on Sea Mountain Highway in reference to the stabbing.
When they arrived, they found the victim sitting on a bench, holding a towel to his abdomen area, which was bleeding heavily, the report states.
EMS was called to the scene to treat the victim, who told police the suspect followed him to the Swing Bridge Saloon on Sea Mountain Highway and argued with him about the victim seeing his girlfriend, police said.
The argument spilled outside of the bar into a side parking lot where the victim said he was stabbed in the stomach area and face by the suspect, the report says.
The suspect then fled the area in a black pickup truck, according to the victim.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery, and detectives continued to investigate the case.
Turner remained jailed at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Thursday afternoon, according to online records.
