A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Cecil Britt, 56, who was new to the Myrtle Beach area from North Carolina, was killed in the crash, according to Michelle McSpadden, deputy coroner with Horry County Coroner’s Office.
The crash happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday on the southbound side of U.S. 501 in front of the Tanger Outlet shopping center, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Britt was illegally walking in the roadway on U.S. 501 when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. The driver of a 2005 Nissan Maxima, who was traveling southbound at the time of the crash, was not injured and will not face charges, Collins said.
