A Myrtle Beach man, who was arrested last week after police say he ran naked around a local school, is back in jail – this time facing a robbery charge.
Myrtle Beach officers were called to the Circle K at 1929 Mr. Joe White Ave. around 7:30 a.m. Saturday for a reported armed robbery.
Witnesses told police a man entered the store, announcing a robbery and that he had a gun, according to a police report. But the officer was unclear if the man had actually taken anything from the location when the report was written.
Kelvin Cornelius Thomas Jr., 27, turned himself in for the robbery at police headquarters a little more than an hour later.
Thomas was arrested five days earlier, on Sept. 26, when police found him running naked near the Palmetto Academy. The school principal told officers that students had seen Thomas running naked by the school’s window.
The principal said she then went outside and saw Thomas running along the south side of school. She said he appeared to be trying to cover himself, but was completely nude.
Thomas posted bond on the charges later that day and was released from custody.
He now faces charges of indecent exposure, public intoxication, malicious injury to property, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, robbery, kidnapping and trafficking in at least 100 dosage units of ecstasy for the two incidents.
Also known as MDMA for its chemical composition or “Molly,” ecstasy is a synthetic drug that alters mood and perception, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
