A Longs man has turned himself in to authorities after being charged in a hit-and-run collision with a pedestrian that killed a Myrtle Beach man on Aug. 29.
Gregory Harrison Wilson, 53, was charged with hit-and-run after 23-year-old Andrew McGuire was struck by several cars as he walked along the westbound lanes of S.C. 22.
Police say McGuire was struck along S.C. 22, between U.S. 17 and S.C. 31, around 1:30 a.m. after getting into an argument with his girlfriend and leaving her vehicle. He refused to get back into the car, according to an incident report released Tuesday.
The report states police were looking for McGuire after his mother reported him missing. Officers found McGuire lying on the ground in front of a vehicle at the scene. He died of his injuries, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.
