A Loris man was struck and killed by a vehicle on S.C. 9 Business Friday morning, and the driver will not be charged in the incident, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol officials.
Mitchell Guy Cox, 41, was hit about 9:30 a.m., and he was pronounced dead at McLeod Loris Emergency Room from multiple blunt-force injuries, according to Tony Hendrick, Horry County deputy coroner.
Cox was standing in the roadway illegally when he was struck by the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet truck, who was traveling north on S.C. 9 just outside of the Loris area, Cpl. Sonny Collins with SCHP said.
The driver will not be charged, Collins said.
