North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue responded to 4600 South Ocean Blvd. in North Myrtle Beach for an alarm activation, according to a tweet from the department.
When crews arrived on scene they learned that smoke had been smelled near the stairwell and elevator of Emerald Cove II, and the incident was upgraded to a structure fire.
According to the tweet, crews evacuated the building and walked each floor but did not smell any smoke or find any signs of a fire.
Occupants were allowed to re-enter the building after management was informed of the situation.
