New senior living facilities are under construction across the Grand Strand, and another development is in the works for Pawleys Island.
Arbor Landing at Pawleys, owned by Ridge Care Senior Living, will bring 100 apartments to the area, with 60 dedicated to assisted living and 40 memory care units.
The new development, which broke ground in the spring at 7419 Ocean Highway, will employ more than 70 people, including caregivers and in dining, housekeeping and administrative roles. Hiring should begin in spring 2018, according to Marc Maready of Ridge Care Senior Living.
The new development comes amid the construction of new senior living facilities in Myrtle Beach and Little River.
Portside at Grande Dunes, located at 82nd Parkway and Cipriano Drive, will bring 83 assisted living units and 18 memory care units to the area. An expected completion date has not yet been announced.
In Little River, River Park Senior Living is expected to open summer 2018. The center will bring 80 beds to 3382 S.C. 9.
As the first Ridge Senior Living facility in South Carolina, the company aims to appeal to the 55 and up demographic in the area.
“South Carolina’s growth within the 55 and up demographic makes it very appealing to us,” Maready said in an email. “We also like the close proximity to the geographical footprint our communities currently serve in North Carolina. Growing in new markets close to those we’re already in makes good sense operationally.”
An opening date has not yet been announced.
