Shallow, cool air in place as warm, moist air movies up from the south is forecast to produce light rain late Saturday and early Sunday morning as temperatures hover around freezing, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C.
The preciptation may cause light icing or a glaze on roads, with bridges and overpasses being most susceptible to slick conditions, according to the weather service.
A freezing rain advisory is in effect for Darlington, Florence, Marlboro, Dillon and Marion counties from midnight through 11 a.m. Sunday. No ice accumulation is expected for Horry or Georgetown counties.
Officials urge drivers to exercise cautions on roads if travel is necessary, especially on bridges and overpasses.
