Horry County School District announced that its schools will operate on a two-hour delay Wednesday for students and staff. Coast RTA services will run on a delay as well.
Michelle Cantey, spokeswoman Coast RTA, announced that the bus service will be delaying all fixed route and paratransit services until 10:00 am, with route 16 beginning at 11:30 a.m. Cantey said because their express service only runs twice a day, this service will be suspended until Thursday, should weather conditions permit.
Georgetown County School District announced that it will operate on a two-hour delayed schedule on Wednesday for students and staff, due to the inclement weather. School buses will pick students up two hours later than their normally scheduled times.
Coastal Carolina University will resume operations at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The university will not hold evening classes Tuesday because of inclement weather. Online classes will continue as scheduled.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College also shut down on Tuesday, but HGTC plans to reopen its three campuses at 4 p.m. Tuesday and conduct evening classes as regularly scheduled, spokeswoman Mary Eaddy said.
The three campuses are the Conway Campus on U.S. 501, the Grand Strand Campus on the old Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, and the Georgetown Campus on U.S. 17 south.
Horry County libraries will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday due to the inclement weather, according to Lisa Bourcier, the public information director for Horry County. Recycling centers in the county will also close early, at 4 p.m.
In Georgetown County, Parks and Recreation facilities closed at 4 p.m. Basketball practices and all other scheduled recreation department activities were canceled as well.
