Horry County police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday night in the area of 30th Avenue South in Atlantic Beach.

A man was shot in the stomach and taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition about 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Horry County police Lt. Robert Kegler said.

Officers were called about 9 p.m. Wednesday to 603 30th Ave. S., and found the man had been shot, Kegler said. Detectives are investigating the shooting and no arrests had been made as of early Thursday.

At the time of the incident Wednesday night, Horry County police Sgt. Scott Calderwood said a woman was injured in a physical assault, and her boyfriend was shot. He also said he could not be sure of the motive. Another man had fled the scene before police arrived.
