The Myrtle Beach man whose body was found in a lake at Broadway at the Beach died of drowning, according to an autopsy performed Monday.

Preliminary autopsy results showed that Darrell Wayne Graham, 41, of Myrtle Beach died from drowning, said Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said Monday.

Graham's death remains under investigation by Myrtle Beach police, Capt. David Knipes said.

According to an incident report, Graham’s wife called police to report him missing around 3 a.m. Sunday. The woman told police that she and Graham had argued as they were leaving Celebrity Square at Broadway at the Beach and Graham said he had to use the bathroom.

The woman said Graham walked behind a Ron Jon Surf Shop to use the bathroom. She said she waited in front of the store.

After some time, she told police she heard a splash but thought Graham was joking around.

The wife said she waited a bit longer, went behind the store to look for him but could not find him. She said she called out his name and called his cell phone but there was no response. She then called police.

Police and fire and rescue crews searched the lake and the rest of the Broadway at the Beach property but did not find Graham.

Police took Graham’s wife home to see if he was there, but he was not. Officers then entered Graham into the missing persons database. His body was found in the lake Sunday evening.
