Coast RTA is looking to hire 24 temporary summer drivers and two heavy duty diesel mechanics.

The move comes amid the recent approval by the Horry County Council to fund the agency its $1.055 million for fiscal year 2015, which begins July 1.

Ridership last summer was more than 36,000 and ridership on the Entertainment Express, which travels to and from Broadway at the Beach, was just shy of 20,000 last July.

Coast RTA is looking for those with CDL licenses for the driver positions, and those who are hiring will go through a training and orientation process. Coast management has indicated it would like to have employees hired by July 1, according to a press release.

Interested candidates, who already possess a CDL, may apply online at or at the Coast RTA office, 1418 Third Ave., Conway. Heavy Duty Diesel engine mechanical experience is preferred for the two mechanics’ positions. Applicants without a CDL will not be considered at this time.
