Newsmakers | Local cadets graduate from S.C. National Guard academy

Cadet Michael Centeno, a resident of Murrells Inlet; Cadet James Wood, a resident of Myrtle Beach; and Cadet Terrance Flagler Jr., a resident of Florence, graduated from the South Carolina National Guard sponsored Youth ChalleNGe Academy during a ceremony held June 11 at the McCrady Training Center, Eastover. Centeno enrolled in the academy Jan. 6 and completed 22 weeks of training focusing on self-discipline, rigorous academic and physical training and learning skills to be successful in life. At the graduation ceremony, Centeno was presented with a diploma by General Roy McCarty.
