Donations: The Myrtle Beach Community Garden needs help to continue their mission of feeding the homeless or anyone hungry. They need the use of private property, inside or outside, near downtown Myrtle Beach from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays. We provide everything, but donations or help would be welcome. Volunteers/donations: Bikini Beach Cat Rescue is in need of donations of cat food, large to small bags of name brand cat and kitten food, towels and financial donations for residents needing financial help for our spay/neuter clinics. We are also accepting merchandise in good condition for our upcoming yard sale. Tax-deductible receipts are available for donations of $25 or more. Volunteers/donations: Saint Michael Prayer Shawl Ministry is in need of yarn and volunteers to knit or crochet, shawls, baby blankets, lap robes for nursing homes, Street Reach, Help for Kids, Cancer patients and many other people in need. Volunteers, foster parents and/or donations: Kare Team Sanctuary is in need of volunteers who can be committed to one or two afternoons per week for two to three hours to help with our canine friends. Foster homes are also needed. Donations of dog food, treats, toys, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent are always needed. Call 399-9290.
Volunteers: Guardian ad Litem program is in need of volunteers to help abused and neglected children in our area. You will be assigned a case where you could become the voice for that child. You must be 21, have no criminal history, and not appear on the child abuse registry. You would be provided with a 30-hour training class for free that would ensure you have the necessary information to do the job. Members: The writers group of the North Myrtle Beach Library is seeking new members. They meet from 4-6 p.m. first and third Tuesday of every month, at the library’s small meeting room. Although not mandatory, members of the group can share their writing and offer constructive suggestions for each other. They also discuss how to publish and be published. Members: The Georgetown County United Way AmeriCorps VISTA Collaborative is recruiting nine AmeriCorps VISTA members for the 2014-15 fiscal year.
