Socastee man dies in early Sunday crash

A 34-year-old Socastee man died early Sunday morning after the car he was driving was hit by another driver, police said.

Horry County coroner Robert Edge said Hobet Trinidad Morales died of internal injuries.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, at about 3 a.m. Sunday a pickup truck was driving on Dick Pond Road. The truck swerved into the median near Strand Drive, where Morales was waiting in a Volkswagen to make a left turn, and struck the Volkswagen, police said.

Medics transported Morales to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Edge said..

The crash remains under investigation.
