United Way of Horry County will continue its “Make Someone’s May Day” tradition of making and delivering bags filled with necessities and gifts for the homebound, many of whom are seniors.

United Way of Horry County will continue its “Make Someone’s May Day” tradition of making and delivering bags filled with necessities and gifts for the homebound, many of whom are seniors.

UWHC is in its 14th year of the program and works with the Horry County Council on Aging and Mobile Meals of the Grand Strand to identify the recipients of May Day bags. The bags are filled with toiletries - toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, shampoo, tissues, lotion, powder – stationary, pens and gifts, such as puzzle books, sugar-free candy and slippers.

Anyone can participate in the program by filling a bag, dropping off supplies or making a monetary contribution. All items must be new and unopened, and must be dropped off by April 25.

Bags can be picked up at Myrtle Beach Mall, Easy Radio 105.9 or any chamber of commerce in Horry County – the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber on Oak Street, Myrtle Beach Area Visitor’s Center in Murrells Inlet, Conway Chamber, North Myrtle Beach Chamber, Loris Chamber or Little River Chamber. The remaining bags will be packed with donated items April 29 at Myrtle Beach Mall.
