N.C. woman claims winning lottery ticket purchased in Myrtle Beach area

A North Carolina woman won $200,000 playing the lottery in Myrtle Beach, according to a news release from the South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

A North Carolina woman won $200,000 playing the lottery in Myrtle Beach, according to a news release from the South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

The woman, who declined to be identified, told lottery officials she purchased a Red Hot Ticket on her birthday at the Murphy USA on Kings Road and learned it was a winner, according to the release. The woman was in the area for dinner plans on her birthday.

The woman said she plans to purchase a new car and put a down payment on a house with her winnings.

As of Tuesday, one top prize of $200,000 remains in the $10 Red Hot Ticket game and the odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 600,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, the Murphy USA store No. 5731 in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $2,000.
