Solid Waste Authority to vote on flow control
Horry County Solid Waste Authority is expected to vote Tuesday concerning its flow control ordinance. Horry County Council voted earlier this month to repeal the C&D portion of its 2009 ordinance that required haulers to bring their debris to the county’s landfill instead of out of county.

A few days into February, some local groups are planning events of Black History Month
The Canal Street Performing Arts and Theatre Program invites the public to celebrate with free movies, popcorn, drinks and a free performance by young people in the Canal Street Performing Arts and Theatre Program.

Canal Street Museum of African American History opened last Saturday as part of the month’s activities. The public is invited to take an in-depth look at the many contributions African Americans have made to the world. The museum displays the work of scientists, inventors, athletes, doctors, artists, writers and others.

Zoning change proposed in Carolina Forest
A public hearing on a proposed zoning change a Carolina Forest neighborhood off Gateway Drive will be held 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the multi-purpose rooms on the second floor of the Horry County Government and Justice Center, 1301 Second Ave., Conway.
Some residents of nearby Ashley Park Homes area are concerned the proposed 311-unit apartment complex could cause various problems if approved.
Beach tents up for discussion again
North Myrtle Beach officials are expected to discuss beach tents during their meeting on Monday. The City Council will vote to send a recommendation to the Coastal Alliance that could either completely or partially ban tents on the beach.
