S.C. Supreme Court hears AVX case
The S.C. Supreme Court will hear arguments beginning Thursday to determine if property owners close to pollution can sue AVX Corp., claiming property values have diminished due to public stigma of contamination near the company.
The property owners’ case was dismissed at the Circuit Court level in 2012.

Horry County to take final vote on flow control Tuesday
Horry County will take a third and final vote Tuesday on whether to repeal the construction and demolition debris portion of flow control.
Flow control, adopted by the county in 2009, forces those hauling construction and demolition debris to keep that debris in Horry County’s landfill on S.C. 90. By repealing the portion, that will allow businesses to haul to nearby landfills outside of Horry County that have cheaper rates per ton.
The vote is slated for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of the Government and Justice Center, 1301 Second Ave., Conway.
Taste of the Inlet
The second annual “Taste of the Inlet,” with Murrells Inlet and Garden City Beach eateries, will take place from 6:15 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Inlet Square mall.
Proceeds benefit the Murrells Inlet 20/20 preservation group.
Admission is $8 in advance or $12 at the door, and beverage and taste tickets will priced separately, ranging $2 to $4 each.

NBA player, Myrtle Beach native to be honored
Myrtle Beach High and the city of Myrtle Beach will honor NBA player Ramon Sessions on Tuesday between the girls and boys basketball games against St. James. The girls game will begin at 6 p.m.
The school, located at 3302 Robert Grissom Parkway, is pre-selling tickets for the games and the ceremony starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The pre-sale tickets will available through 2 p.m. The school will sell only 1,500 tickets.
