Georgetown County woman dies after being struck by Chevy Suburban

A Georgetown County woman was struck and killed Saturday afternoon while crossing U.S. 701.

A Georgetown County woman was struck and killed Saturday afternoon while crossing U.S. 701.

Georgetown County coroner Kenny Johnson identified the woman as Frances Moree, 82, of Georgetown.

Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a 44-year-old Hemingway, S.C., man was driving a 2007 Chevy Suburban northbound on U.S. 701 when it struck Moree near North Fraser Street. The crash occurred around 3:52 p.m. Saturday. Moree was pronounced dead at the scene by the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office.

No charges had been filed as of Saturday night.
