Business is still going well for the Patrick family, who run a “Welcome to Myrtle Manor” souvenir store at their mobile home park off Highway 15 in Myrtle Beach.
“Myrtle Manor” is a “docu-drama” filmed at the park last year and aired on TLC this spring. The show was picked up for a second 10-episode season, set to air sometime next year. They are expected to begin filming season two later this month.
Park owner Cecil Patrick is re-applying for a special event permit that allows him to sell show souvenirs and concessions, and allows “Tangulls” hair salon – which was created for the show – to operate legally. The 90-day permit was granted by the City Council in March and expires June 29.
Patrick must re-apply for the permits every 90 days in order to continue having commercial activity on his property.
Never miss a local story.
Assistant city manager John Pedersen said there are no changes to the permit request, which is scheduled to go before City Council June 11.
The Patrick family opened a NASCAR-like merchandise trailer in April that sells show souvenirs that also are available for purchase online at www.myrtlemanor.com. Available items include T-shirts, hats, can coolers and “beer belts.”
