The playground at Grand Park near The Market Common in Myrtle Beach is getting an upgrade and will be closed for the next few weeks while crews do the work.
The park, near the bridge over the lake, will be closed until June 1.
The park is getting a new playing surface, new area for children ages 5 to 12, new fencing and new amenities such as benches and trash receptacles. The area in the playground catering to ages 2 to 5 also will get a new rubberized surface installed around it.
The city regularly updates park facilities as needed, city spokesman Mark Kruea said. The work at the Grand Park playground will cost about $75,000, he said.
