Tuesday’s special election in the 1st Congressional District is happening, but Horry and Georgetown counties are not involved.
Officials from both counties said they’ve received calls from Grand Strand voters asking about the election and when the polls are opening.
The problem is, Horry and Georgetown counties are no longer in the 1st Congressional District. When the lines were redrawn following the 2010 Census, both counties became part of the 7th District.
Tuesday’s special election between former Republican S.C. governor Mark Sanford and Democrat Elizabeth Colbert-Busch is to fill the U.S. House of Representatives seat vacated by now U.S. Sen. Tim Scott.
