The date of the next major traffic shift at the U.S. 17/Farrow Parkway construction zone in the Myrtle Beach area will be announced Wednesday, according to Lisa Bourcier, Horry County spokeswoman.
Officials will also discuss an updated construction timeline for when work is expected to be complete on the overpass there at the backgate.
The new traffic shift’s anticipated start has been late spring or early summer. All southbound traffic on U.S. 17 will move onto two ramps currently being built. A similar shift happened in the summer of 2012 on the northbound side of the U.S. 17 Bypass.
Once all U.S. 17 Bypass traffic is using the ramps, construction crews will begin building the overpass that will help to remedy congestion in one of the busiest intersections in the Myrtle Beach area. The entire project is budgeted between $115 and $120 million and is expected to be completed in August 2014.
