Myrtle Beach Rep. Alan Clemmons was appointed as the vice-chair of the Judicial Merit Selection Commission, according to news release.
Clemmons has served on the commission since 2008 and replaces former chair and vice-chair Rep. Gregory Delleney Jr.
The commission was created in 1997 and screens nominees for state judgeships for the supreme court, court of appeals, circuit court, master-in-equity, family court and administrative law court. Candidates qualifications are also determined by the commission.
Also on the commission are Chair Senator Larry Martin, Rep. David J. Mack III, Rep. Bruce W. Bannister, Senator Floyd Nicholson and Senator George Campsen III. Non-legislative members are Kristian M. Cross, John Freeman, John Davis Harrell and H. Donald Sellers.
