Teen threatened with gun, assaulted
A 19-year-old man told Myrtle Beach police several men threatened him with a gun and assaulted him during a robbery attempt in the parking lot of Broadway at the Beach, according to a police report.
The victim told officers he was sitting in his girlfriend’s vehicle in the parking lot about 8:15 p.m. Sunday when six or seven men approached the vehicle, and one man opened the passenger’s door and asked if the victim hit the man’s brother, police said.
The victim told police the man then punched him in the face then went to the driver’s side and sat down in the vehicle as the victim was waiting for his girlfriend to arrive, according to the report.
The victim said the man pointed a gun at him and demanded money so the victim handed over his wallet, but he did not have any money in it, according to the report. The victim said the gunman gave the wallet back and then searched the console of the vehicle while another man searched the glove box.
The second man kicked the victim in the arm and the group of men fled the area, according to the report.
Man wanted for failing to pay cab fare
Myrtle Beach police searched for a man who ran from a taxi cab leaving a $17.25 fare late Sunday, according to a police report.
The driver told police that he picked up the man as a fare from 17th Avenue South and Kings Highway and drove him to Racepath Street and then to White Street, according to the report. The driver said the man then asked him to drive to Pine Grove townhomes and when they got there about 9:30 p.m. Sunday the man jumped from the cab and ran behind the townhomes.
Officers searched the area, but did not locate the man.
Wallet taken by pickpocket at club
A 36-year-old man told Myrtle Beach police his wallet was taken by another man while inside a club at Broadway at the Beach, according to a police report.
The victim told officers he was inside the club, which was not listed in the report, at 1 a.m. Sunday when the man bumped into him and a short time later the victim said he realized his wallet was missing, police said.
The victim said he reported the incident to a security officer, who confronted the other man but he refused to provide any identification and left the club, according to the report. The victim canceled his credit cards that were in the wallet.
Man wanted in bank robbery
Deputies in Georgetown County are working to identify a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery at the Citizens Bank on U.S. 17 in the Pawleys Island Community.
The robbery occurred about noon when a man entered the bank and demanded money from an employee then fled with cash, said Carrie Cuthbertson, spokeswoman for the Georgetown County Sheriff’s office. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The man did not present a weapon, police said.
Police searched the area, but did not find the robber.
