Hot Christmas dinners will be served at three Myrtle Beach area churches by volunteers with the American Red Cross on Christmas.

The dinner, sponsored by Bi-Lo Charities, is free to anyone in need of a hot meal or fellowship, said event coordinator Janice Ash Sialiano.

The event, which costs more than $16,000, is expected to provide 6,000 meals, including home delivered plates to those who cannot travel.

Volunteers spent two weeks preparing food for the dinner, cooking 63,000 pounds of turkey and more than two tons of bread for stuffing.

The churches hosting the dinners are St. John Greek Orthodox Church at 3301 U.S. 17 in Myrtle Beach, Belin United Methodist Church at 4183 U.S. 17 S. in Murrells Inlet and Risen Christ Lutheran Church at 10595 U.S. 17 N. in Myrtle Beach.

All dinners run from 1 to 3 p.m.

Transportation will be provided to the St. John Greek Orthodox Church from Street Reach in Myrtle Beach.
